What is Mentoring?

Mentoring is a relationship between a mentor and mentee which focuses on long term career development, building skills, knowledge and understanding. By sharing their experience, mentors help to guide a mentee in their career development plan and personal growth.

Being a mentor allows you to have a true impact on your mentee’s career by helping them become more valuable to their organization and confident in their career. As a mentor, you will gain a personal sense of satisfaction from knowing that you have helped someone else.

Being a mentee allows you to expand your knowledge and skills, gain advice from a more experienced individual, and build your professional network.

“I participated because I was at a crossroads in my career and I didn’t know where I wanted to go, but I knew I wanted something more and my mentor taught me how to deal with difficult discussions and situations.  She also taught me how to put myself out there to get what I want out of my career.”

“The mentorship program was an excellent experience. It’s not just about sharing your experience as a mentor, it’s also about learning from your mentee. The relationship works only if both mentors and mentees are willing to put in the commitment and time to invest in each other. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in the Pilot. It was an excellent experience.”

« Et pour moi, c’est important dans ma carrière comme femme, de partager, de faire grandir les autres. »
